What's an actor's most important feature? According to Vivica A. Fox, whose most recent big-screen role was in Independence Day: Resurgence, it's what you see right up front.

"On screen, your smile and your eyes are the most inviting things that bring the audience in" she said. "Especially if you play the hot chick."

But like lots of people, Vivica reached a point where she felt her smile needed a little help in order to look its best. That's when she turned to a popular cosmetic dental treatment.

"I got veneers years ago," Ms. Fox told Dear Doctor magazine in a recent interview, "just because I had some gapping that probably only I noticed."

What exactly are dental veneers? Essentially, they are thin shells of lustrous porcelain that are permanently attached to the front surfaces of the teeth. Tough, lifelike and stain-resistant, they can cover up a number of defects in your smile — including stains, chips, cracks, and even minor spacing irregularities like the ones Vivica had.

Veneers have become the treatment of choice for Hollywood celebs — and lots of regular folks too — for many reasons. Unlike some treatments that can take many months, it takes just a few appointments to have veneers placed on your teeth. Because they are custom made just for you, they allow you to decide how bright you want your smile to be: anywhere from a natural pearly hue to a brilliant "Hollywood white." Best of all, they are easy to maintain, and can last for many years with only routine care.

To place traditional veneers, it's necessary to prepare the tooth by removing a small amount (a millimeter or two) of its enamel surface. This keeps it from feeling too big — but it also means the treatment can't be reversed, so once you get veneers, you'll always have them. In certain situations, "no-prep" or minimal-prep veneers, which require little or no removal of tooth enamel, may be an option for some people.

Veneers aren't the only way to create a better smile: Teeth whitening, crowns or orthodontic work may also be an alternative. But for many, veneers are the preferred option. What does Vivica think of hers?

"I love my veneers!" she declared, noting that they have held up well for over a decade.

Porcelain VeneersMost people smile countless times a day. However, for those who are ashamed of their teeth, this natural action can come along with embarrassment or hiding behind their hands. Luckily, a making over your smile has never been easier than with porcelain dental veneers. This cosmetic dental treatment can turn your teeth around, subtly repairing small imperfections or overhauling your smile completely. Find out more about porcelain dental veneers with Dr. Matthew Karls and Dr. Stanley Karls at Karls Family Dentistry in Waunakee, WI.

What is a porcelain dental veneer?
A dental veneer is a cosmetic dental restoration that fits over the surface of a tooth to change its appearance and mask its imperfections. A dental laboratory customizes each veneer based on a clay impression of your mouth, ensuring a natural look and perfect fit.

Can porcelain veneers help me?
Veneers can help patients in various situations. Some of the common uses for veneers include to repair:

  • chipped teeth
  • cracked teeth
  • uneven teeth
  • discolorations or stains
  • yellowing of the teeth
  • slight misalignments
  • small gaps

What can I expect from the veneer process?
You will see your dentist several times during your veneering process. First, your dentist will prepare your teeth to receive the veneers, which involves removing a small portion of enamel from the surface of the tooth. Then, your dentist takes an impression of the mouth to send to the laboratory. At a second appointment about two weeks later, your final restorations are complete and your dentist places them permanently onto your teeth.

Porcelain Dental Veneers in Waunakee, WI
Caring for your veneers is as easy as caring for your natural teeth. The American Dental Association recommends brushing at least twice a day and flossing at least once between each tooth. This, coupled with routine dental examinations and cleanings every six months, will keep your teeth and restorations alike healthy, clean, and beautiful for years to come.

Dental veneers may be able to help you.

What cosmetic issues can dental veneers improve?

If you are dealing with any of these issues then you may just want to consider getting dental veneers from our Waunakee, WI, cosmetic dentists:

Whether you want to fix minor misalignments that keep you from that straighter smile or you want to change the overall shape, size or color of your teeth to get a more even, symmetrical look then porcelain veneers may be the best option for you.

How do you get dental veneers?

In order to get traditional dental veneers, we will need to prep your teeth beforehand to make sure they are ready to support your new restorations. You’ll first come in for a consultation so that we can make sure you are a good candidate for treatment.

Then, some enamel is shaved off the front of your teeth to make room for your veneers. While this might sound painful, it’s not. We only have to remove a very small amount of enamel so you won’t feel anything. Once the teeth have been prepped we will take impressions of your teeth.

A dental lab will use these impressions to fabricate your veneers. Once your veneers have been created you will come in so that we can fit you with your new restorations and bond them to your teeth permanently.

Say goodbye to your dental imperfections when you get dental veneers in Waunakee.

Tired of people noticing stains and other dental flaws? Want to get a gorgeous smile without the hassle of time-consuming and invasive Veneersprocedures? Your wish has been granted! Your Waunakee, WI dentists Drs. Matthew and Stanley Karls offer dental veneers, a simple and effective way to hide common dental issues to give you a smile that truly radiates.

What are Veneers, Anyways?

Many patients are looking for the easiest way to change the look and shape of their smiles without going through invasive or time-consuming procedures. After all, a beautiful smile sounds appealing but not when it comes in the form of painful treatments.

Luckily, dental veneers are a unique and simple way to change the color, length and shape of your smile painlessly and in only two visits. Dental veneers are wafer-thin shells that are applied to the front of your teeth to boost your smile’s aesthetics. Veneers are often made from translucent porcelain, so they mimic the look of natural teeth.

Getting Dental Veneers

Before you are fitted for your new smile your Waunakee dentists will want to examine your teeth to make sure that veneers are right for you. Veneers are a great way to hide any of these common problems:

  • Discolorations/stains
  • Chips and cracks
  • Misshapen or malformed teeth
  • Crooked teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Minor overlapping

If you are dealing with any of these imperfections then veneers can help. Once we have deemed you the ideal candidate for treatment we will clean your teeth thoroughly and then begin tooth preparation. Tooth prep for this procedure is minimal and painless. During this step, we will shave down some enamel to make room for your new veneers. Fortunately, since veneers are thin we won’t have to remove much enamel beforehand.

Impressions are then taken of your smile so veneers can be custom-made to fit your teeth. It can take about a week to get your veneers. Once they are made you will come back in for your final fitting. We will temporarily apply the veneers to make sure you are satisfied with your new look. Once we have your approval we will apply special dental resin between your veneers and teeth, which we will then harden using a specialized dental laser. You will leave our office that day with a brighter, straighter smile.

Ready to turn those dental problems into a thing of the past? Then it’s time to talk to your Waunakee, WI dentists about whether dental veneers are the best treatment for your smile. Call Karls Family Dentistry to schedule your next cosmetic consultation.

Find out if dental veneers in Waunakee can fix your smile problems.

If you’ve ever admired an actor’s smile while they are walking down the red carpet or you’ve desired a smile just like a model in a magazine, then chances are you’ve been appreciating their dental veneers. While some people are just lucky to have beautifully straight, white teeth, the vast majority of people need the proper dental procedures to give them the look they desire. Dental veneers Veneershave given thousands of patients the smiles they want, including Hollywood stars. Find out if dental veneers in Waunakee could be the solution you’ve been looking for.

Dental stains

While teeth whitening can work well for many patients with yellowing teeth, there are some stains that just don’t respond well to this form of treatment. Teeth whitening is only meant to treat external stains caused by stain-producing foods and drinks. Internal stains caused by long-term antibiotic, excessive fluoride or trauma will not respond to whitening treatment. In these cases, getting dental veneers in Waunakee is the best way to hide these stains.

Fractured teeth

If you are suffering from a chipped, broken or worn-down tooth, dental veneers can easily hide these aesthetic flaws. While those with more severe fractures may need dental crowns in order to fully restore function back to their tooth, for those with more minor breaks and cracks that just negatively impact the physical appearance of your smile, dental veneers in Waunakee can fix that.

Gaps between teeth

It’s very rare that someone has perfectly straight teeth. While certain celebrities like Madonna have made dental gaps rather famous over the years, not everyone is pleased with this style. Luckily, dental veneers in Waunakee can cover these minor gaps between teeth and give you a more compact and healthier-looking smile.

Getting Dental Veneers

These thin shells of porcelain are made to look just like a natural tooth and are applied to the front of your smile to hide these imperfections. This procedure also boasts minimal prep. Before the veneers are applied we will shave down a small portion of your tooth’s enamel to make room for the veneers. Then we will apply the veneers using a special cement and bond the shells to your teeth using a laser.

Dental veneers are even designed to match the color of the rest of your teeth, so you will get a complete smile that looks natural and beautiful. If you want to find out if you’re an ideal candidate for this cosmetic treatment, call your Waunakee dentist today!
